The National Council of RSCM Australia includes two representatives from each of the Branch committees, representatives of church bodies at the national level as listed below, and the Director General of The Royal School of Church Music (UK) (ex officio).

The council meets several times each year, normally by teleconference, and at least once each year in a face-to-face meeting coinciding with the annual summer school.

The responsibilities of the Council include co-ordination between branches, oversight of national activities such as the annual Summer School or visiting lecturers or church musicians, the publication of the national magazine One Voice and liaison with relevant church and church-music bodies both in Australia and overseas.
